The Going Red Fashion Show

Something great that I have been working on for the last few weeks, besides studying, going to classes and writing tests, is The Going Red Fashion Show.

Cafe Culture initially approached me to assist them in producing a fashion show, so I agreed to helping out and went home and chewed on the idea. Something that I have always remained true to is my sexuality, and it is something that I don't hide and will never hide, it is part of who I am and I have accepted it and those who love me and choose to love me also accept me for who I am.

In light of the proposition 8 proceedings going on in the US it dawned on me that we are privileged in South Africa to have an advanced legal system protecting the countries LGBT community and we are also one of 12 countries in the world where same sex marriages are legal, including New Zealand where the law was recently passed.

So with that said I went back to Cafe Culture and pitched them a cause, a cause to raise awareness and support for marriage equality in solidarity with the rest of the world and with that we decided on The Going Red Fashion show, inspired by the 'Change Facebook Red' campaign.

The fashion show is set to be an exclusive evening open to all where our local celebs and models will be taking to the ramp, showcasing fashion week designer, Roman Handt's latest ranges. It is also an evening proudly supported by the luxury skin care brand, Kiehls South Africa as well as Bombay Sapphire Blue.

This is also my first fashion show production, I have only ever been the one walking the ramp, not putting the production together, and I have to admit that I have been enjoying the planning going into such an event and most definitely would do more!

I look forward to welcoming everyone to the event and truly believe that it is going to be one to remember!
